Juan Zuleta releases EP "Blame and Vindications" Latin Funk-Rock-Soul and R&B

Updated: Feb 26, 2022

Leaving behind his 20-year career as an Opera singer and classical conductor, this Colombian musician and actor set to self-produce his first solo EP mixing genres such as Rock, Funk, Soul and Rhythm and Blues, with a spicy Latin touch.

Written and recorded from Summer to Winter of 2021 in his small 19th century bedroom in old town Ljubljana (SLO) the EP features collaborations by Slovenian musicians such as drummer Rok Skoliber, bassists Boris Holi and vocalist Danaja Koren. From Argentina, the Colombian bassist Daniel Cortes contributes in two songs. The mixing and mastering done by British producer Aaron Hopkins seals this debut album in which Juan recorded all the vocals, backing vocals, guitars, pianos and keyboards himself.

The lyrics have a political and reflective approach to human life, the deterioration of our planet and our relationships as a society, heartbreak at the end of love, defeat and victory, wisdom and naivete and that breeze of positivism that makes us think that something good is possible, when we wake up every day.

Born in Colombia in 1984, Juan emigrated to Europe more than ten years ago pursuing a professional career in classical music. Recently he has dabbled in acting and modeling, often appearing in advertising campaigns and television series in Slovenia and Europe (his face is recognizable in a funny Pringles commercial for UK in 2021 and his character "Jose Armando" is the comic relief in the first season of Slovenian TV series "Sekirca v med".

Currently working on his next single “Asesino” to be released at the end of March, Juan is also committed to several other projects: the writing of his first Musical Theater play; the first album of Rock duo Zuluk; a monolog theater play to be performed by himself and the arrangement and recording of three full albums as a soloist (Double album “Easy Ballad:Balada Facil”; a compilation of songs about immigration “If you read this letter…” and the TropiRock album “Chuku-chuku”).
